Of course I’ve severed.
And more quickly, I’ve burned,
finding the gaps more easily filled
than its connections appeased
or learned.
Absence may be replaced
by a close replica or its thought,
but the network, like veins that feed,
and its faces, like children’s unfazed,
all have questions that cannot be ignored:
How smooth, sharp edges have made it
necessary to move fast;
and how much easier is solitude
without unions in your past.
